The start of a new year is a time to dream big and set intentions for the months ahead. You might be resolving to get fit, spend more time outdoors, or embrace new adventures—we see you, and we’re here to celebrate and support your journey. At All Ways Adventure, we believe there’s no “perfect” time or fitness level required to explore the great outdoors. The best time to start is right now, just as you are.

Cheers to Your Resolutions!

First, let’s take a moment to acknowledge your goals, yes, even the old ones! Whether you’re lacing up hiking boots for the first time, ready to try canyoneering, or simply striving to move more, every step counts. Making a goal any time of year is an act of courage and optimism. It’s a promise to yourself to grow, try something new, and prioritize what matters. And that’s worth celebrating!

We know that stepping into the unknown can feel daunting, especially when it involves physical activity. Rest assured, you’re not alone. Many of our guests have shared their concerns, saying, “I’m so out of shape,” or, “I don’t know if I can keep up.”

Here’s the truth: you can.

Not because you’re perfect, but because you’re willing—and that’s enough.

Fit Enough for Adventure

The idea that you need to be in peak physical condition to enjoy outdoor adventures is a myth we’re eager to shatter. Adventure isn’t about achieving some idealized level of fitness before you begin; it’s about showing up and letting the experience shape you. Your willingness to try is all you need to get started.

At All Ways Adventure, we believe the outdoors is for everyone. From beginner hikes and canyoneering routes to more challenging expeditions like Neon Canyon, we design each of our trips for every body, no matter your fitness level or outdoor experience. Our guides are trained to provide both physical and emotional support to help you meet your goals and enjoy the journey. It’s not about how fast you go or how much ground you cover—it’s about finding joy in the process, connecting with nature, and celebrating your progress.

The best part? Over time, you’ll build stamina, resilience, and confidence without even realizing it. The human body is remarkably adaptive, and each step you take strengthens not just your muscles but also your mindset.

The Low Down on the High Desert

Exploring the high desert comes with its own unique set of challenges and rewards, especially when it comes to elevation. The thin, dry air at altitude can make physical activity feel more intense than you might be used to. Feeling out of breath or experiencing muscle fatigue doesn’t mean you’re out of shape—it means your body is working exactly as it should, adjusting to its surroundings.

Here are a few tips to help you thrive at elevation:

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate: The dry air in the high desert can dehydrate you faster than you realize. Drink water before, during, and after your adventure.

  • Take it slow: Pacing yourself is key. Rest as needed and focus on steady, consistent movement.

  • Fuel your body: Snacks that are rich in carbohydrates can help maintain your energy levels.

  • Breathe deeply: Using intentional breathing techniques, like deep belly breaths, can help your body adjust to the thinner air.

  • Listen to your body: Don’t be afraid to communicate with your guide about how you’re feeling. We’re here to support you.

Southern Utah’s unique landscapes and breathtaking views are worth every step, and with a few simple adjustments, you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish.

Your Journey, Your Adventure

As we move into 2025, let this be the year you embrace new possibilities. Let it be the year you step outside your comfort zone and into the beauty of the outdoors. Whether you’re setting a resolution to move more, connect with nature, or simply try something new, All Ways Adventure is here to guide you. The outdoors is for everyone, and we’re committed to ensuring you feel welcome, capable, and celebrated on your journey.

So, what are you waiting for? The canyons are calling, the trails are waiting, and your adventure is ready to begin. Let’s make 2025 a year of discovery, growth, and unforgettable memories—together.

The Southwest’s mesmerizing landscapes—dramatic slot canyons, sweeping deserts, and red rock vistas—are more than just a feast for the eyes. They are home to delicate ecosystems, sacred cultural sites, and centuries of natural and human history. Exploring these areas requires more than curiosity—it demands responsibility. Leave No Trace (LNT) principles provide a practical and ethical framework for enjoying these environments while preserving them for future generations. At All Ways Adventure, we embrace LNT as part of our commitment to responsible exploration. Whether you’re canyoneering through stunning narrows, hiking off-the-beaten-path trails, or rappelling down sandstone cliffs, our expert guides help you experience the Southwest while leaving minimal impact. Here’s how to adapt the seven LNT principles to your Southwest adventures—and how All Ways Adventure can help you go beyond, go guided, and go responsibly.

As we celebrate Native American Heritage Month , we reflect on the long-standing connection between Indigenous communities and the lands we love to explore. These peoples, with their rich history, culture, and relationship to the land, have shaped the Southwest for thousands of years. All year long, it’s vital for visitors to deepen their understanding of these sacred places, not only as scenic destinations but also as living history and cultural treasures. The Southwest is home to some of the most remarkable archaeological sites, ancient pictographs and petroglyphs, and sacred cultural landscapes that are integral to the identity of Indigenous peoples. As adventurers, hikers, and explorers, it is our responsibility to honor and respect these spaces—this is especially true during Native American Heritage Month when we have the opportunity to reflect on their history, contributions, and ongoing stewardship of the land. Below, we will explore how we can engage with the Southwest responsibly, the importance of preserving cultural heritage, and the twenty Visit with Respect tips to help visitors protect these fragile landscapes. But beyond just practical tips, this guide will offer insight into why these actions are important and how we can each make a difference in ensuring these sites are preserved.
